The first day of filming was scheduled so
that Jess (the actress playing Georgia.) would have all her scenes filmed in
one day. The intended scenes for the 1st day of shooting were Scene
9; Georgia’s house and scene 8; the park.
Scene 9 was shot outside of Carol flack’s
house (Clarice’s grandmother) in Stradbroke Sheffield. We organized the inside
of the house as a base of operations; this allowed us to have access to
shelter, food, toilets and warmth. Due to having to film in November, it was
very cold, I made sure that when a cast, crew member or the chaperone were not
needed on set they we inside the house in order to stay warm, I also provided
the actors with scripts so they could go over their scenes whilst waiting
inside.
During actual filming I worked closely with
Courtney and Jess to get the most out of their performances. I was very happy
with Courtney’s performance. As a physical actor he was excellent, he would
slump his body just right in order to portray Nathan as defeated in his current
situation, he was also able to pull great faces for shock at seeing Georgia
again. Courtney also read his lines excellently, both in voice over and when
speaking to Georgia.
Unfortunately I feel Jess was miscast as
Georgia. Though I still feel she was the strongest candidate at the audition
(as can be seen in the audition video on the blog). Jess was not a strong actor, also the
character of Georgia is to be overtly glamorous but Jess was not at all. Also
despite much help from myself, Jess
could barely read out a single line and when she did the performance was not to
a great standard, the reason I mention this is that as a director it is my role
to help better and actors performance, I tried very hard to get the best out of
Jess’s performance but I feel there is no quality to capture. Jess was miscast
and in the next film we shall endeavor to find someone better for the role.
Scene 8 was shot at the park near by,
whilst I took the actors and chaperone to a café for lunch, Dan and Robin set
up for the next scene. Unfortunately after one take Robin informed me his
camera had ran out of battery. As no solution could be found I sent the actors
home and myself, Dan and Robin stayed behind and reworked the shot list to fit
this scene in the next day of filming. I also organized for jess to be on the
set the next day and I informed the rest of the crew of the new timetable. Below
is our new shot list.
